Away-less: the path of waste - part 2 (2024)

Inspired by Timothy Morton's idea that there is no true "away," this work questions the imagined distance between ourselves and what we discard.

The sculptures reinterpret waste bins through familiar gestures of disposal-throwing, dropping, pressing, and forcing something inside. Yet these containers refuse to let anything disappear. Instead, transparent pipes guide each discarded object back toward the person who released it.

The work imagines waste not as something that leaves us, but as something that quietly remains within the same cycle. What we believe has gone elsewhere continues to exist, just beyond our attention.
